Musing ♥ - Russian model Sasha Pivovarova. January 21, 1985. 26. Vegeterian. Before signing with IMG, she was an art student at Russian University of Humanities. Right now she lives in a Brooklyn apartment that also doubles as her art studio. "I was playing with pencils while the other girls were playing with dolls." She loves painting and drawing, and anything can be her canvas. Pivovarova is currently collaborating with Miuccia Prada on a book of her own artwork in the form of a scrapbook, as well as illustrating a fairytales book for Karl Lagerfeld.

Chanel Haute Couture Spring 2011
For Spring 2011, instead of focusing on a dramatic shock and presentation, Chanel goes back to the pure and basic meaning of haute couture(– noun 1. high fashion; the most fashionable and influential dressmaking and designing), or the tailoring, shaping and textiles of each garment. Instead of going what I like to call the Dior way, everything is comfortable and understated. It is really different from the Fall 2010 collection, which I think is too structure and (gasp!) old. Karl Lagerfeld and his team uses a bunch of fabrics: tweed(Coco Chanel's favorite fabric that appears in every show, even resort), chiffons and a hell load of embroidery. All the models are wearing sequined leggings and ballet flats. Instead of looking like 40-somethings(well, except for Stella Tennant and Kristen McMenamy, who's actually 40 something )like they do in any other shows, the models actually look pretty, young and girly. "I was sick of all those Eiffel Towers, sick of all those violent colors," said Karl. I agree. The doll-likeness works like a charm.
I also like to note that the make up, instead of caking their faces is really natural like a Calvin Klein or a Stella McCartney show. No red lipstick, no face powder, just natural. And the jewelry on all of them includes delicate crystal earrings and a black choker. It makes you focus on the clothes instead of staring at all the little details. This is by far my favorite Chanel show ever. Really.
